A plane ride away!

Aviation Museum on Monday
We had a busy week . . . especially starting it off with a field trip on Monday! The students had a few guest teachers because BHS teachers were in meetings for 2 periods every day this week! Throw in early dismissal, Wheelies for the Patrols, and hot lunch, and the week was done! Ha! We started working on portfolios and created some amazing art inspired by Winnipeg artist Kal Barteski. I can't wait for it to be displayed for student-led conferences next week!  :)

Here is Carson's TWAS for the week:

This week was filled with excitement.
On Monday we went to the Aviation museum and learned about the clouds and the sky, we also made things that I forget how to say, anyway we got to explore inside a plane from the 60’s. did you know that people can smoke in them, weird. We also went to the library to see book trailers; they were so cool. My favorite one was a ghost that takes little girls for 50 years.
On Tuesday we went t the computer lab to work on comic life. I didn’t do it last time because I had an early hockey practice and an appointment. Braden and Michael told me what to do, after awhile I got the hang of it. We also did art, it was getting advice from are ABC list then colored it in marker and put one of the quotes on the paper.
On Wednesday we had book buddies in the first period, my buddies name is Colson and he likes hockey like me. We also had gym, gym was super fun we played scooter ball. You have to throw the ball into a net with people blocking you.
Book Buddies on Wednesday
On Thursday we had hot lunch!!!!! This time it was subway and I got a turkey foot long it had mayo even I didn’t order that, they always do that! We also went to the computer lab to write about the field trip this week, mine didn’t save and I wrote so much. #So mad.
Today we had x-mas practice, it was so busy and I got in trouble for high fiving Rylee. We also had gym, we did the strength- a –thon, I did so good and after I almost sleep in lunch.

SPIN Club goes to WE Day!

It was an amazing day to join 16 000 difference makers at the MTS Centre for WE Day! Mrs. Tresoor, Mrs. Dyck, and I took 35 Grade 5 SPIN Club members to be inspired! There were so many fantastic speakers and performers! When we returned, the students wrote reflections about their experience. We were blown away from what they shared! We are so looking forward to a year of helping others locally and globally through "Free the Children".

A full week!

We had a great week in Room 31! It was so nice to see many students involved in the Remembrance Day Assembly today . . . either as drama performers, recorder players, or representing our class as wreath bearers. Hope you have a wonderful long weekend. Take a moment to appreciate the peace in your life!  :)

Here is Morgan's TWAS for the week:

On Monday we had Emoji Movember attendance on the Smartboard. It's where you made a moustache on your emoji. We also made our art step two. It's where we made poppies on the blue sky and green background.

On Tuesday we had a math quiz. We have been practicing for the quiz. I can't wait to see our scores. We also did BHS reads. I like reading and I'm almost done the book I'm reading.

On Wednesday we had outdoor gym. We did baseball but I'm not the best at hitting the ball. But the running part is much easier! Class meeting and in our problems solving box we had a lot of problems. A problem solving box is where you could put a problem that is bugging you, you could write that in there. Then at class meetings we solve them.

On Thursday we had our Remembrance Day assembly. I was apart of playing the recorder for the moment of silence. And the drama club. The drama was a story of all the animals showing their strength and then the man came and showed his strength and the animals said they did not know what he was doing. Then he got a spear and hurt elephant!

On Friday I will not be doing much at all. I will just be hanging out at home and maybe playing with friends.

Science Design Project: Weather Vanes

In the last few weeks we have been working on and finishing weather vanes for science. For the design project we were working in groups. All groups have been working really hard to get these finished. All weather vanes are now tested and finished. The criteria we needed to follow were:
  • The weather vane indicates four cardinal wind direction (N,E,S,W)
  • Must be able to withstand two different wind speeds Low and high
  • Must be reliable during numerous tests
  • Uses only the materials provided
  • Design should promote the sky diving co.
  • The log book should be neat and have all questions completed

We thought it was so-so because we were working in groups and it was hard sometimes to work together.

We had a good time making these weather vanes!!!!

A Spooktacular TWAS!

I was greeted with many cheers and hugs on Tuesday, after being away for 2 days in Churchill! What a way to start a week! We worked with the laptops for the first time this year to complete our TWAS this week. Here's Livia's . . .

On Monday we had a substitute teacher named Ms. Ragolsky. The most exciting part of the day was our Halloween parade. All the students and teachers at BHS gathered in the gym in their costumes. I was dressed up as a minion. We would take turns walking around the gym to some sick tunes. We also had a Halloween PARTY! We had snacks and watched the Peanuts Movie on Netflix. Michael brought cheese balls for the party. They were a BIG hit!

On Tuesday we moved into new spots and made new name tags. The name tags were shaped like moustaches. We moved spots and now I am sitting with Jonah, Lucas, Carter, and Madelynne. The class voted on a new horseshoe shaped like design. Today I also finished my Halloween glyph. I started it last week with Mrs. Kohut. I had to cut out eleven ghosts because that is how many people are living in my house.

On Wednesday we worked more on our science design project. In case you forgot we are making weather vanes. It was very stressful because we worked so hard on it and then while Ms. Wasney was testing it with a blow dryer it totally crashed to the ground. We also had library. I got a craft book as well as a book called I love to draw dogs. I am so happy because I found my books that I supposedly never ever seen in my life.

On Thursday we got another chance to fix up our science design project. We made it as stable as we could and let Ms. Wasney test it again. It actually worked. It was not the best weather vane ever but at least it worked. We also did step one of a new art project. We had to paint one half of a piece of paper blue and the other half green with water colour paint.

On Friday we had a writing prompt. It was if you could have one super power what would it be. I said I would like the power to read peoples minds because if we have a test I could look right through Ms. Wasney and find out the answers. We also had IBL with Ms. Booth. We are researching Aboriginal groups.

Today, members from the SPIN Club stayed in at the afternoon recess to count socks! It was a tough job! After school, Mrs. Tresoor and I double-counted all the socks just to make sure of the numbers. Our grand total is . . . (drum roll, please) . . . 464 pairs! That is AWESOME! Stay tuned to find out how those socks will help out families in need!

Happy Halloween!

I was sad to miss Halloween in Room 31, but I left my camera for our substitute Ms. Rogalsky so that I could still see your spooktacular costumes! Looks like everyone had a great time!
