Kidblog is Launched!

We spent lots of time this week working towards launching our online blogs with Kidblog! The students worked so hard on their paper blogs and then we spent some time leaving quality comments for one another. On Thursday, the students were able to create their first post online! I sent home a letter for parents with a code so that you can join our class and follow along. The link to Kidblog can be found on the right-hand side in our "gadgets" section. --------->

Here is Maddox's TWAS from Kidblog:

on Monday we started are paper blogs my was called Manitoba Maddox I made lines that looked like loose leaf, for my gadgets I drew a QR code and a quote by  Wayne Gretzky I also did how much veiwers I had it was fake. Though for the backround I did sport balls or what ever they used in the sport, and rainbow in the backround. 

on Tuesday we got assessed in gym on paddle ball we played games against each other I played against kody, Ayanna, and Ryann. it was fun to play and I played against ms rand my squad is the red squad they're are 6 people in the red squad Reese is in the red squad were never together. 

on Wednesday we commented on other people blogs I got eight comments, and I commented on 6 people I pretty sure. when I got the comments it made me feel good about my paper blog. I'm not that good at drawing it was probably the best drawing I've ever drew hooray! 

on Thursday we did are first post on the laptops mine was like 3-2-1 sharing you typed 3 fun facts I can only remember I play summer hockey, 2 things you aren't a fan of I typed music class and spicy food, and for one it was the thing you want to be when your older I want to be a NHL player that makes millions of dollars 

on Friday we had  class meeting first we played as the wind  blows I was In the middle 1 time and I said who likes unicorns like 8 people stood up and we to a different chair but you only stand up if you like the same thing. but for the class meeting you said what you were excited for I said going away for my moms birthday and I just passed for concerns and then we had the most problems ever so then we tried to solve them and then the END  

Hello 2018!

Wow! We're so happy that the week didn't start out as cold as it's ending! Unfortunately, we've had indoor recesses and bussing for the last 2 days. It's been awesome getting back into the routine of school and hearing all about the holidays. Before Christmas, we had worked really hard on our paper blogs. This week, we were able to do the final step: commenting. And then we got to try out Kidblog for the first time on Thursday! Notes went home with information for families about joining Kidblog to allow posts to be seen. Please click HERE for the link. From now on, students will post their weekly TWAS write-ups every Friday. We will also use the blog as a way of sharing other learning experiences from Room 31. So exciting!

Here is Haylee's first TWAS from her Kidblog account:

On Monday we did 3-2-1 sharing about our Christmas holidays. What you had to do was share 3 fun facts, 2 things you will miss about the holidays, (now that they are over) and 1 thing that surprised you. I shared about how I got an iPod, a drone and MUCH more! I also shared about how I would miss staying up late! Another thing we did on Monday was Library. I took out a book called "The thing about jelly fish" It looks like it is a good book.

On Tuesday we did a new art project. We made 2018 firework art!  What you had to do first was draw and cut out bubble numbers for stencils. The numbers you had to do were 2, 0, 1, and 8 since it is now 2018! Then we put tape on the back of each number and then stuck them on to a piece of blue paper. To make the fireworks we used chalk pastel of two different colors for each number. All you had to do was make little lines from your stencil. so the numbers would stand out. Then we took the tape off and added sharpie! Another thing we did was BHS reads. I am reading a book called OCDaniel. It is really good

On Wednesday we did paper blog commenting. What we did first was put our paper blogs on our desk. Then we walked around the classroom and read each others paper blogs and wrote comments on sticky notes. I got 4 comments. Another thing we did on Wednesday was science research on the laptops. We are researching different kinds of Weather disasters. I am researching about Droughts.

On Thursday we helped our little buddies log on to the laptops. It was so cute! We also got to play math games with them! I am with a boy named carter in kindergarten and with Emily in grade 5. Another thing we did was our Kid blog intro! We learned how to log on make an avatar and type our first post!

On Friday/today we did our first TWAS on kid blog!/The post I am doing now! I was so excited to type up my 2nd post! Another thing we are doing is presenting our French scripts! My partner is Ciera!

New attendance for February!

For a short week, we sure packed in lots of things! I think the most exciting part of the week was launching our Kidblog sites! Each student has now posted something (an "all about me" or an art review). I was really pleased to have to approve posts and comments left outside of school! It's cool to see the students so keen on blogging that they're posting and commenting on their own time! I hope this continues! Just remember our criteria! :)

Book Buddies!

On Monday we got new name tags. The name tags are hearts and in the hearts are letters  in our name! I think it is cute.

On Tuesday we made cool bookmarks. I made my bookmark a rainbow and in black I put my name on it.

SPIN Club field trip to the CMHR!

On Wednesday we had one of my favorite substitutes: Mrs. Nowicki. Out of 1 to 5 stars Mrs. Nowicki is a 5. 

On Thursday we played a math game called TO THE MOON. It is a fun game.

On Friday. well there is NO SCHOOL!!!   But I am doing twas and after this I am going to relax.

Our online blogs are launched!

I am super excited to announce that we have launched our Kidblog account. Now, each student in Room 31 will have access to an online blog to publish their work. We will use this format to share about our learning experiences taking place in our classroom.

We’ve been working hard designing “paper blogs” over the last few weeks. We have also focused on quality commenting. Please note that all student posts, as well as comments, will be monitored and approved by me, before being posted online.

We encourage families to visit the Kidblog site and click the “Join” button. By entering in the code bdxbteh by February 15, you will be able to read all of our posts, and leave a comment, if you wish! Our posts are NOT public, so you will have to join to follow us on Kidblog.

Thanks everyone for a fantastic year in Room 31! You are a great group of kids with bright futures ahead! We sure had loads of fun each and every day. Thanks for always making me laugh, keeping me "on my toes", and challenging me to be as energetic as you!

Be sure to keep us posted about your summer activities on Kidblog . . . it will be active until mid-August! Just remember our criteria!

Kidblog post criteria!

After a hiatus of almost 3 months, we are back up on Kidblog! Yay!

Yesterday, we went to the lab and had a choice of 3 things to post about (Spring Break, Spirit Week in Room 31, or Day of Pink). I was quite pleased with how many students completed their post in a short amount of time.

Today, before returning to the lab to finish up our post, we created criteria that we feel is important for all of our posts to include.
