This week we received a special package from UNICEF! It was a framed certificate stating that BHS was one of the top 3 schools in Manitoba during the October fundraising campaign! Wow! That is so awesome! Thanks for your support . . . it's great to see kids helping kids!

An RCMP TWAS . . .

We had a really busy week with Earth Day Activities each day. We also had an RCMP Officer visit our class on Tuesday to talk to the students about the D.A.R.E. Program. It's geared for the Grade 5 health curriculum, so unfortunately the Grade 4s will not be allowed to participate. However, Constable Human said that he'll have something special ready for just the Grade 4s, which is great!

Here's Rebecca's TWAS from our Kidblog account:

Earthy Monday was awesome! We started a writing prompt about coming home from the I.S.S after a year we also have a few Questions to ask to! To bad I don't remember the questions other wise I would have had a longer twas! LOL! Also on Monday we had a morning meeting about morning meetings! Well it was also about how Ms.Palamar is going to join in on our morning meetings!
Tweet tweet Tuesday was incredibly warm! We had the funniest RCMP officer came and talked to us about a program called constable human! The RCMP officer was making jokes left right and center! Later on in the day we got bonus time outside before we went home! I played invasion tag for a bit then I played grounders! #BestTuesdayEver
Windy Wednesday was supposed to be warm for the whole day but it wasn't and now I'm angry because I wore shorts and my poor legs were cold. We had computer lab and typed up our writing prompts about the I.S.S. My story is not printed yet because Ms.Wasney never corrected it. Gym was awesome because Mr. Kelsey was our sub and we didn't do basket ball. I n gym we went in a group of four and did different stations.
Thursday cursday is so far awesome! For math we corrected our word problems I got them all right by the way but we also played multiplication bingo I won three times! Right now we are doing twas in the computer lab well other people get there writing prompt done.
Friday has no school and I'm going to longe and have fun with my bro's and my sis.

Earth Day Activities!

This week, BHS is celebrating Earth Day with a different activity each day! Today, we had a morning meeting and shared ways we could help the Earth. It was a great brainstorming session to lead up to "Give the Earth a Hand". Each student is collaborating to create a bulletin board that will be displayed by the music room.

What are some things YOU can do to help the Earth?!

A Rainy Day TWAS

The students in Room 31 had a busy week! I was away on Monday and Tuesday, and it was soooooo nice to be welcomed back with huge smiles and hugs on Wednesday! I took 2 personal days to go to Las Vegas for a Photobooth convention over the weekend. I am my sister's one and only employee, and her business treated me, so how could I say no?!

The patrols ended off the week with a "wheelie" great time at Wheelies this morning! What an awesome way to celebrate their hard work and dedication!

Here's Brogan's TWAS from his latest Kidblog post . . .

Monday  we had Mrs Kohut as a sub we had to do some math it was two digit by one digit and one digit by three digitthe one digit by three digit was the hard part it was like what but I tried and it still was hard I guess I just need to learn and we had science. We learned about sound and how bats use their ears and not their eyes it was neat.
Tuesday we still have Mrs Kohut as a sub but  lets get to the day we did a writing prompt it was about money would you spend $500 dollars on your self or donate $5000 dollars to some one else I gave mine to TPABC that stand for the papa and Brogan company it is me and my papa doing cool stuff to make the world a better place and we went to the computer lab to either work on our expert projects or type about and writing prompt I did and writing prompt that I was working on.
Wednesday Absent
Thursday today it is so awesome Dylan made a ant-man movie out of LEGO it is so cool it was like 5 min long and he made it on this app called stop motion it had 865 pictures because stop motion is like you take a picture and then move the person he had some other movies  but they were like 1 min long and we did day of pink respectful greetings I was in a group with Matt Coen and Donavan it was so funny.

Decorah Eagles

We checked in on the Decorah eagles this morning and noticed that there are 2 eaglets now! It's really neat to watch them grow and change. It's also super cool to see what the parents bring into the nest to feed them! Watch below . . . you won't be disappointed!

Day of Pink!

Today, BHS celebrated "Day of Pink". We started out the day with an assembly hosted by Ms. Dodds' Grade 3/4 class and Mr. Moffat's Grade 4 class. It was awesome to see so many staff and students wearing PINK!

If you're not sure of the history of the day and why it's important, then here goes . . .

Day of Pink began in 2007 when 2 high school students in Nova Scotia witnessed a new male student being teased about wearing a pink shirt. That evening, the two boys bought 50 pink t-shirts and brought them to school the next day and handed them out to classmates. And now, it is an international phenomenon; celebrated all over!

Today, following the assembly, Room 31 students watched a live feed hosted by Manitoba Red Cross. Travis Price, one of the founders of Day of Pink was chatting with students from all over Manitoba via Skype. Blue Bomber player Matt Bucknor also spoke about the importance of making a difference for someone else.

Travis spoke at WE Day this past year, and there is a display in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights all about the Day of Pink!

We really should remember to choose kindness and to stand for respect each and every day! What is something you can do to make a person's day?!
