Expert Project Presentations!

Today, we had 2 more expert project presentations! Now that students are presenting, others are feeling encouraged to finish up their research so that they too can showcase what they know!

Carter shared facts, showed a video and some models, and had us do a pop quiz on missiles. He also asked 2 classmates to assist him in the presentation, and even wrote them a script!

Rebecca used Prezi to showcase the snowmobile brand, "Ski-Doo". Her family races snowmobiles, so it was a perfect topic to research!

 

Expert Projects!

We had our very first 2 expert project presentations today! I was so proud of Isabella and Jack for being prepared to present. All of the students were so impressed with their projects and had lots of compliments to give them! :)

Isabella chose to use Prezi to share her research about Taylor Swift. She also had the audience complete a quiz, and we watched a video. See the Prezi below!

Jack made a diorama to show what he learned while researching tornados. He also shared a video with the audience.

Expert Projects: Lions & Donkeys

Today, we had 2 expert project presentations . . . I think they are the last of the year! It was so fun to see the students engaged in these projects. They really were enthusiastic to study a topic of their own choice!

Nick showed his powerpoint, so here are some facts that he shared:

Facts about lions!

A lion can eat up to 60 pounds of meat at 1 sitting!

A lion can run up to 36 mph!

A lion weighs 330-550 pounds!

A female lion does most of the hunting!

A cub is born at 2-4 pounds and is only a few inches tall!

Expert Project: Bald Eagles

This morning, Michael presented his third expert project! It was neat to learn about eagles because we have been enjoying watching the live feed of the eaglets in the Yukon!

Expert Projects: Polar Bears, Horses, and Pink Fairy Armadillos

 We had 3 Expert Project presentations this morning! Whoa! Carly presented her third project!

Amanda presented a powerpoint about Horses. Here are some facts that Amanda shared: Old Billy was the oldest horse, he lived to be 62 years old! A male horse has 40 teeth and a female has 36 teeth. Ponies are not baby horses, they are actually a small full-grown horse!

Today I presented my whale project. I DID THIS ON A POWER POINT. HERE ARE SOME FACTS OF WHALES.

THE BIGGEST WHALE IS THE BLUE WHALE.

THE ONLY WHALE WITH TEETH IS CALLED THE TOOTHED WHALE.

MY FAVOURITE WHALE IS THE BALEEN WHALE.

Expert Projects: Wolves & ATVs

After sharing the eagle cam with the students, we had 2 expert projects to start off the week on Monday!

Memphis shared a powerpoint about wolves. Here are some facts she taught us . . . the oldest wolf in captivity lived to be 32 years old, the saliva of wolves can heals wounds, and babies are about as big as 4 sticks of butter when they are born.

Expert Project: The Leather Back Turtle

Yesterday, Maddy presented her expert project on Leather Back Turtles. She chose to read all her information and then share only pictures through prezi. Here are some facts that Maddy shared:

They can get to be 300-500kg in weight.

They eat jelly fish and small fish.

They are the oldest species of sea turtles and the heaviest.

The leather back is the only sea turtle that lacks a hard shell.

This morning, Michael presented his 2nd expert project . . . on his birthday! He must really like big cats, because his first project was on tigers! Here's his prezi . . .

Expert Projects: Turtles & The Edmonton Oilers

This afternoon, we had 2 expert project presentations. Jack presented his prezi on turtles.

Ty presented his powerpoint on The Edmonton Oilers. Here are some facts that he shared:

Did you know that Neil yakupov is the youngest player on the Edmonton oilers? He’s 19!

Did you know that the oilers home arena is Rexall place?

Did you know that the captain on the Edmonton oilers is Shawn Horcoff? And the two assistants are Jordan Eberle and Taylor hall.

The head coach on the oilers is pat Quinn?  the assistant coach is tom renny.

Did you know if pat Quinn retires then tom renny has the opportunity to be the head coach?

We are on a roll with our expert project presentations! We had another 2 presentations this morning! Kyla presented her THIRD expert project . . .

Then, Brooklyn presented her powerpoint on Sea Turtles. Here are some facts that Brooklyn shared:

Today I presented my expert project on sea turtles. Here are some neat facts . . . did you know that sea turtles eat Jellyfish, Seaweed, Sea grass, Crab and Snails. And the leather back sea turtle is the biggest turtle. It is huge! It weighs well over 1000 pounds! And a sea turtle can stay under water for about five hours. It is so amazing.

This morning, Nick presented his expert project on the Winnipeg Jets . . . a favourite team of Room 31!

Expert Project: New York Rangers

Today, I presented my E.P on the NHL Team the New York rangers.

Here are some facts about the rangers: 3 all-star players played on the rangers Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, and Mike Richter.

The rangers head coach’s name is john tortilla. The rangers won three Stanley cups with john tortilla.

There are 19 Canadians on the rangers and 6 Americans and five Europeans.

Today I presented an expert project on Cavalier king Charles spaniels with a power point. Did you know that there are 4 “types” of Cavalier king Charles spaniels? Brown and white, Ruby, Black and tan and Tri-color. I own the brown and white type. Her name is Molly.

Today I presented my expert project on “Tigers”. I did a PowerPoint and PowerPoint’s can’t go on the blog so I’m typing this up so you learn about them.

1. Tigers have the brightest eyes of all the animals in the world.

2. There are 5 species of tigers which are Sumatran, Siberian, Bengal, and I can’t remember the others.

3. Snow tigers live in rainforests

4. If you breed a tiger with a lion you get a hybrid called a liger or a tigon.

5. There are 7 cubs in a litter. The average is 2 or 3.

Expert Project: Barack Obama

This morning, Zach presented his expert project on Barack Obama. Zach had a very big audience today because he even invited Mrs. Tresoor's Grade 5 students to watch his prezi!

Nathan shared his expert project on deer today! He had to answer LOTS of questions!

Expert Projects: Cheetahs AND Basketball

On Wednesday I presented my 2nd Expert Project and it was about cheetahs. Here are some interesting facts: Did you know the scientific name for cheetah is Acinonyx Jubatus?  Did you also know the Swahili name is Duma for a cheetah?  A female cheetah usually has 2 to 4 cubs. Some of the stuff they eat are Thomson gazelles, warthogs, and antelopes.
