Kids helping kids!

Something I love about working with the older students is that we can learn lots about what we can do for others and the impact of our actions. I am always so happy with the support from the BHS community for all the wonderful things we do at our school.

For the last several years, my class has been in charge of Unicef. We have now wrapped up the campaign for this year. The grand total for donations is  . . . (drum roll, please) . . . $937.55. That is wonderful and will really help improve the lives of children struggling to survive!

The SPIN Club received a beautiful thank you card and letters from Mosaic Newcomer Resource Centre for the 200 pairs of socks we donated as part of the Socktober campaign. The letters were written by adults, who are new to Canada, and are just learning english for the first time. It's really heartwarming to read the letters!

As well, we just weighed all the food that was collected as part of the "We Scare Hunger" campaign with "Free the Children". A total of 281.5 pounds of food will be donated to Winnipeg Harvest, to help families in need.

Thanks so much for participating in these worthwhile fundraisers at a busy time of the year!
