On Monday, after the announcements we went to Lower Fort Garry. We played a game called “liars game” when we got there. There were three people and each of them represented one group. The three groups were Aboriginal, European and Metis. There would be a photo and each of them would say why it is an invention from their group. At the end we all clapped for who we think was telling the truth. We guessed 2 right and 1 wrong. After that we went on a tour around the fort. One of best places to live in was the big house. It was sort of like the white house but in a fort. It is where all the upper class people lived. Mostly Europeans lived there but there were a few Metis people there too. Another cool place was the trading post. There was a bunch of soft fur to touch and we got to try carrying a 90 pound box of fur on our forehead. In the blacksmith shop, we watched a blacksmith apprentice make a tool out of metal. It was 2000 degrees ho!. He dipped it in ice water to cool it down. Then we got to touch it and it wasn’t hot. After that we had lunch. After lunch we went to do a build a fort activity. We split into two groups and made a mini house out of wood. Then we got to make a small Tepee. Michael went around and tied the wood together and Nick also put the rope on. Our field trip to Lower Fort Garry was really fun. We can’t believe it didn’t rain while we were there.
