A cheesy week!

We've had a great last week of April! Okay, really, how did that happen?! I can't believe we're about to start MAY!!! I'm looking forward to doing David Suzuki's 30x30 Nature Challenge with the students. We will be going outside for 30 minutes everyday to appreciate nature . . . some days, we will take our work outside, go for a community walk, or just simply play! Fingers crossed the weather cooperates!

This week was the Handball Tournament. Twenty-three Grade 5 students represented BHS really well! We played against 3 other schools at Chief Peguis Junior High. We also studied the skeletal system, started division, tried out some poetry, and began working on a neat art job. As always, students enjoyed having hot lunch today! Thanks to the parent volunteers for helping out!

Hey kid blog readers!!!

Monday:

On Monday we had book buddies and my book buddie is Rylee. So we had to pick a picture book and read it to them and me and Bella read press here that's why we were clapping if you heard us! We also read the book Ish and I rate it a 6 out of 10. We also had gym on Monday and in gym we played hand ball because the handball tournament was on Tuesday. So yeah! that is what we did on magical Monday well it wasn't really magical but what ever!

Tuesday:

On Tuesday we had the HANDBALL TOURAMENT! But I was terrible at goalie and I was also terrible at forward and center because I did not score any goals:( but it was still a lot of fun! We also had Music on Tuesday so we sang the music Monday song and we practiced the songs that we are performing on music Monday! so yeah:)!!!!! 

Wednesday: 

On Wednesday we were learning division just to get our minds back on to it. And I totally forgot that division is just multiplication backwards so yeah I totally forgot about that! We also had art but we only did step one because we had gym right after! And for step one we had to well Ms. Wasney had to rip up old book pages and she mixed up glue and water and then we had to put the glue water on the white paper and then we had to put the ripped up book pages on the paper and then we had to put some more glue water over again!:)

Thursday:

On Thursday we had poetry so we had to make list poems and I wrote about....

If I did the grocery shopping what would by?

And I wrote this

So yeah we also had BHS reads again and most of you know I am reading because of Mr. Terupt So yeah

Friday:

Ok finally on to today:) So today we had ummm oh yeah we had.... HOT LUNCH and for hot lunch we had pizza and I got two peperoni and yeah. We  also had art step two of our art so what we had to do is paint over top and I used the color green (for grass) and then purple and blue and I love it:):):):):):):):):):):):):) 

A Drumming Week at School!

We had a wonderful week working with Naomi and Hiroshi from Fubuki Daiko to learn Japanese drumming with Taiko drums. We also completed our writing project; which we've received loads of compliments on! We worked hard on social studies presentations on a variety of European explorers as well.

Monday we had a assembly. we watched Fubuki Daiko. they are the best drummers on planet earth. Computer lab. we worked on our social studies. We worked and the Wi-Fi went off.so we went back too class and read One for the Murphys. Its a great book. its about a girl in foster care and she is grumpy right now.

Tuesday we had a fire drill and bus evacuation. I saw my old bus driver his name is Garry. We had drumming and we learned something new from fubuki daiko. we used garbage cans and used real drums.

Wednesday we did bhs reads  and I read tom gates and big Nate. he is so funny and cool. we did science we did respitory system we did some papers and that's all we did but I wish I can type some more but I cant. I can only type up 2 things per day. 

Thursday we did drumming we learned our whole peace and I'm pretty good at it but I love it. library. we are going to library at the end of the day but we did not go yet. 

Friday I'm not going to school I'm staying home cuz there's no school haa. I'm going to have some friends over at my house. plz leave me comments .   

 

Taiko Drumming with Fubuki Daiko!

We have had an amazing week of drumming with Fubuki Daiko, a world-renown Japanese drumming group from Winnipeg! I have been so amazed with what the students learned in just 4 days . . . a total of only 2 hours! You can see loads of pictures and other videos on our class Instagram account. A PINK week!

We've had a great week at school! We recognized the "Day of Pink" on Wednesday with an assembly and some activities in our classroom. I'm always impressed with how insightful some students are when writing in the perspective of another person. It's so important to develop empathy. The students finished up their social studies projects and I'm really looking forward to the presentations next week! Another thing coming up is the "Celebration of the Arts" evening on Thursday, April 20th. All next week, the Japanese drumming group Fubuki Daiko will be working with students. Grades 3-5 will be performing on April 20th. As well, every classroom will be showcasing writing projects in the hallways. We are excited to share "The Best Part of Me" with everyone!

On Monday we did social studies. We were working on our European explorer project but I was already done so I got to work on my best part of me writing. I chose my voice because it is big bold and beautiful. I finished that too, so I got to type it up right here on kid blog, you should check it out. We also had gym. We played hockey and it was so fun I almost died! I was sweating so much I could wash my hands with sweat. It was also very fun because my friend Mackenzie was on my team. We also had BHS reads. I am reading a book called dork diaries. It is about a very nerdy girl named Nikki trying to get through the rough times of middle school. To make it even worse her worst enemy Mackenzie Hollister, and her crush, Brandon are there to watch her every move.

On Tuesday we had music. We did.......TAIKO DRUMMING! We had to work in pairs of two. One person would hold the drum and the other person would actually play the drum. We played a pattern that was also a Japanese poem. It was really fun, because after we finished the pattern we got to yell HA! in other words it was just amazing. We also had library. During library me and my friends made birthday cards for a little girl staying at the Ronald McDonald house. I really, really loved how mine turned out. I mentioned my adventures in the Ronald McDonald house in another post, you should check it out if you haven't already. And lastly happy birthday to joy.

Perfect weather for a FIRE DRILL!

On Wednesday it was day of pink! We did two different day of pink activities. The first activity we did was, were we got into groups, each labeled some think else. There were three groups labeled, the bully, the bullied and the bystander. I was in the group labeled the bystander. You would talk about how you would feel as a bystander in a case of bullying. We talked about you could want to help but not know what to say, and how you could want to help but not know how and a whole bunch of other stuff. We also did another activity using the same labels. you had to fill out a sheet on how you would feel if you were in a bullying situation either In the perspective of the bully, the bullied or the bystander. You would have things on written on your sheet such as, I say, I see, I feel, I touch and I wonder. after those things written there would be lines for you to write things down. for example on the lines following I touch you could write things like I touch the tears  on my face or I touch shoulders trying to push trough the crowd. We also had music. We did taiko drumming again but....... WE HAD A FIRE DRILL! All of a sudden in the middle of music the fire bel rang. We went outside the find a surprisingly warm summer day, We lined up and then shortly after the bell rang to go back inside.

collaborative bulletin board,
outside of the gym. 

On Thursday we had book buddies. We made cherry blossoms with our buddies out of tissue paper. We had to use the color pink because cherry blossoms are pink. they turned out so beautiful I was kind of mad that I didn't get to make two so I could take one home. when everybody had made a cherry blossom I was surprised because I thought there should have been way more cherry blossoms considering the number of people that made them. We also had math. We played multiplication bingo instead of regular math because some people from Ms.Dycks were staying in our class due to a number of patrols going to wheelies. I didn't win but I was very close because when we were playing for full house the game ended with me needing to only fill on more spot. LIKE WHY:(

On Friday we don't have school because, well I don't even know why. But anyways tonight me and my family are going to south beach hotel for a night. I am very exited because this is technically my first sleepover with my favorite cousin Caiden. I am so exited because the restaurant there has really good food and they also have a swimming pool and café. The hotel is only a small section of south beach casino. And no, I am not planning on going gambling because I am too young, I am just looking for a really good time with my cousins. I am mostly exited about going swimming because I just found my long lost pair of goggles. The restaurant is to die for. they serve food buffet style and normally, but my favorite way to eat there is from the buffet. One thing I found really funny was my dad is 50 years old and now qualifies for getting coupons for the casino. you are probably not going to read my whole post but just incase you have made it to the end. The last thing I want to say is that the hotel mascot is a dolphin. When you walk in there is a huge statue of two dolphins twirling around each other. It is so cool hehe!

Back to School!

We had a great first week back to school! It was fun to hear about everyone's adventures over Spring Break with our 3-2-1 Sharing on Monday. We headed to the WSO on Tuesday. It was really neat to see that artwork from our class was showcased during a slideshow as part of the concert. Way to go Jace and Carter W! We started our unit about the Human Body in science. It's always a favourite because it's so interesting to learn about. We also worked with Ms. Booth on a writing project, modelled after a book, "The Best Part of Me". The students have amazing ideas so far! I'm excited to see the final pieces of writing. We're hoping to have it displayed for the "Celebration of the Arts" evening on April 20th.

Monday

on Monday/the first day back for the break. Well back to what I was saying we had pizza lunch from someone birthday/ two kids birthday. They are brothers so the pizza was good and that was a lot of pizza class room. And we had are new name tags they are umbrellas.

Tuesday

on Tuesday we had are wso concert!!! it was so good and we only get to go two times here witch is sad. We mite get to go in  some different  school  so that is good. But it was fun at the wso concert. BHS reads I think it was the next time I got rid of my book. But the new books name is cat boy it's good by the way.

wednesday

on Wednesday we had book buddies I think my book buddie hates reading because when we see him he gives off this look that says these boys when they come that means that I got to read look. And yes that is a big look. We had some more stuff to do by the way. We had gym we did ringette I hate it because when we finish it we do hockey and I hate hockey.

Thursday

on Thursday we had bhs reads and on that day I got my new book 100% k and it is about a lot of cats that live in a dump and that is all I know about the book. And on that day we had math and for this math we had 2 digit by 2 digit it's hard.

Friday(I wish that on Friday we got free fries)+_+

on Friday we had math we did the some thing it got harder and on Friday we had twas and I'm so done and I have four more mins and now I'm doneeeeee.
