Day of Pink!

Today, BHS celebrated "Day of Pink". We started out the day with an assembly hosted by Ms. Dodds' Grade 3/4 class and Mr. Moffat's Grade 4 class. It was awesome to see so many staff and students wearing PINK!

If you're not sure of the history of the day and why it's important, then here goes . . .

Day of Pink began in 2007 when 2 high school students in Nova Scotia witnessed a new male student being teased about wearing a pink shirt. That evening, the two boys bought 50 pink t-shirts and brought them to school the next day and handed them out to classmates. And now, it is an international phenomenon; celebrated all over!

Today, following the assembly, Room 31 students watched a live feed hosted by Manitoba Red Cross. Travis Price, one of the founders of Day of Pink was chatting with students from all over Manitoba via Skype. Blue Bomber player Matt Bucknor also spoke about the importance of making a difference for someone else.

Travis spoke at WE Day this past year, and there is a display in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights all about the Day of Pink!

We really should remember to choose kindness and to stand for respect each and every day! What is something you can do to make a person's day?!
