Taylor and her design project!

On Monday we had NO SCHOOL!

On Tuesday we did math. In math we worked in estimation. It was really fun I thought. Then we had read to self. I started reading a book called No One’s Dog, so far I think it is really good. Then we had French. In French we started our winter scenes and when we typed them up we called it En Hiver. We also had two people from Quest Musique (a music store) bring four instruments for us to try out. The instruments were the Flute, the Trumpet, the Trombone and the Clarinet. Then we had gym. In music we got our tests back, I got 20/20!!! Then we worked on alto recorder. Then we shared our science design projects with the class and Ms. Tresoor’s class. It was really fun. Then after that we had computer. In computer we did some work on our European explorer. I think that I got lots of research done. This is one of the interesting facts that I put down. Martin Frobisher has a flower names after him, it is called the Martin Frobisher flower it is a very pale pink almost white and the stem is tall and red. Then we did more math. And in math we did some more estimation. Then the boys had an extra boys’ choir.

It was really fun. Then after that the girls had girls’ choir. After that we had French. In French we worked on our winter scene projects. Then after that we had book buddies. It was really fun. Science Design Projects

Over the past few weeks we have been working on design projects. We had to create a design that would set a ball in motion, change direction or speed and come to a controlled stop. The ball could not be touched by you. There were many cool projects that people created. Emily’s partners were Jacqueline and Taylor T. and Emmy’s partners were Alyssa and Austin. We could only use recyclable materials and the project had to be done at school. When we were presenting we got to go to Ms. Tresoor’s class to watch their projects in motion, then when we were done in their class, they came to our class. It was very fun to create these projects.

TWAS

On Monday we had no school!

On Tuesday we went to the Festival du Voyageur. It was really fun! We saw a lot of really awesome things like we found an ice cup. I put a bunch of snow in the ice cup the snow froze in the cup. And we also learned how to cook syrup. And we also had sap on a stick it was really good and we saw a fire place made out of snow. It won first place! I think it was the best one ever that was there. Me and Carter and Cole played giant Jenga and no one won because we had to leave before we finished and we also played tug-o-war. We won the girls lost. And before we had lunch we went to get mini donuts or a drink and after lunch we went to the gift shop and if we wanted to buy something. But I did not buy anything I saved my money. And we also saw a lot of things made out of snow. It was a really fun day and a warm day.

On Wednesday we had read to self and we also had early dismissal and we also had gym. We worked on our design projects.

GO CANADA GO!
On Thursday we had gym in gym we played hockey. And we also had math and we also had science all afternoon and we also had read to self or write to self and we also had a spelling test.

Festival du Voyageur!

We had the most perfect day for our field trip to the Festival du Voyageur! The sun was shining, kids were smiling, and the snow sculptures were spectacular!

Yesterday we went to Festival Du Voyageur. It was really cool. We got to go to a whole bunch of different programs. The first one we went to was called The Maple Forest. We learned about sap and how you collect it from the trees. It was cool because we learned about the sap collector. The next activity we did was we got to make the maple syrup taffy. It was really easy to make because the guy who worked there poured a thin strip of hot maple syrup on a snow counter. Then we took a Popsicle stick and rolled it up on the taffy. It tasted really good but it fell off the stick a lot, so we had to get baby wipes to wipe off all the syrup. Then we got to look at the ice sculptures. They were really awesome because they were all hand carved.

Then we had lunch. Ten minutes before lunch we got to go buy mini donuts, cotton candy, fresh squeezed lemonade and bottled drinks. They also even had beaver tails. We were surprised. Then we ate lunch. For lunch we sat in a room in Fort Gilbraltar and there were no tables. So we had to eat on our laps. Then we to the souvenir shop. Jayden got a ring with her birth stone on it and Madison got a pair of earrings and two bracelets. One for her and one for her sister. She also got her face painted and it was her name on her cheek with three little hearts and a little bit of glitter. After that we went to a presentation of the Women of the Era. It was cool because we got to write our names in Cree. After that we left and came back to school. Madison`s thoughts on the field trip were: that it was great and she would love to go again. Jayden`s thoughts: it was really fun and I want to go again next year if we can.
