It was a really good song but sadly i forgot the name of it. In music we were also naming notes and when we were done that we got to try it on our recorder.

On Thursday it was rainbow day and I dressed in all black so I was pretty much the opposite of a rainbow so ha. We also had science and we learned about gears. It was really fun. We got an orange paper and we got gears and paper fasteners we put the paper fasteners through the hole and through the paper and connected the teeth for the gears.

On Friday we are having PJ day and I am REALLY cozy! I brought a blanket, Two smallish stuffies and myself! YAY. Later we have math and I have a feeling that we are marking our pink sheet.

Eagle Cam!

Since it's the first day of Spring, it's fitting that we can start checking out the live video feed of the Decorah Eagles. The nest is in Iowa and the live video has thousands of viewers at anytime! You can even check it out at night! There are 3 eggs and the mother and father take turns caring for them. Once they hatch, it's so fun to see the babies feed! The parents are excellent hunters and bring in various prey into the nest!

The Dog House Canteen donated the proceeds from February to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. We are excited to be back and running in April, after Spring Break.

Visit the canteen on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays! Everything is $1.00, except Menchie's frozen yogurt on Fridays . . . which is $2.00.

Thanks for your support!

Performing and Portfolios!

We have had an exciting week! We competed in the music festival on Monday, have done lots of research for social studies, and have been preparing for student-led conferences that start tonight. We also got to watch the gymnastics club this morning. Students in Grades 3-5 have been coming before school twice a week for 3 months to learn skills and work on a creative routine! Wow! Now that's dedication! Next week, they will be headed to the divisional tumbling rally. It was awesome to see so many Room 31 students involved!

A GOLDen start to the week!

Today, we headed to Lakewood School to compete in the Music Festival. We performed "Simple Simon" and "A Sailor". Both pieces combined a variety of instruments, singing, and movement. They looked and sounded complicated! We earned a GOLD! A BIG thank you to Mrs. Knoll for her dedication in preparing the Grade 5s for the festival! Mrs. Dyck's class received a silver for their work.

Thank you to families for making it out to cheer us on today!

Way to go Grade 5s!!!

An indoor TWAS

Indoor Recess!
We sure experienced some wacky weather this week! Unfortunately because of the cold, and the super slippery conditions outside, we had indoor recess ALL week! We kept busy with lots of extra practices for the music festival . . . which takes place on Monday, March 13.

Here's Kenzie's TWAS from her Kidlog post:

On Monday we had a weekend wind-up where I talked about how my weekend went. We also had a Music class to practice our two pieces that we will be presenting at the Music festival.
Practice, practice, practice!
On Tuesday we had computer time in the lab, we started our comic life and tried to finish it. We also had another extra music class to start perfecting our music pieces and make them look nice.
On Wednesday we started a new March art piece which had to do with shamrocks. We also had another extra music class to keep practicing our music pieces. On Wednesday it was also international women's day! We had to do a writing prompt about a women that inspires you, so I wrote about  wonderful young lady named Malala. I will be posting the prompt on kidblog so be sure to check that out when I post it.
On Thursday we had a gymnastics club in the morning and I learned the rest of the creative routine. Later in the day we had math where we did some multiplication.
Today (on Friday) we are having TWAS and a music practice in the gym because our music festival is on Monday, so wish us luck and stay awesome

A cold and snowy week!

We have had a great 4-day week! Tuesday was a very busy day . . . we had a French cooking class in the morning and then a school-wide book-based movie afternoon! All BHS students had a choice of 4 movies to go and watch. It was really neat! The students have been working incredibly hard on TWO pieces for the upcoming music festival.

Here is Carter's TWAS from his Kidblog account:

On Monday, there was No School! All I did was stay home and play outside and video games.
On Tuesday, we had a French cooking class. I don't know what we made but it was good. In it was quinoa, chicken, tomatoes, mint and parsley. It was okay. We also had Movie Day! I went to watch the BFG (big friendly giant). It was a great movie.

On Wednesday, we had Gym. All we did was gymnastics. It was okay because I don't really like gymnastics though. We also had Social Studies. we did this complicated because mostly all social studies is hard more me.

On Thursday, we had a spelling test. There was 100 words. I think I got most of them right. We also had French. we had to draw 5 things from any French piece, then you would have to say it to Ms. Wasney.
On Friday, we had a unplanned fire drill even before school! It was hard getting outside because it was so cold out. We also are having gym today. I can predict that it will be gymnastics.
Thanks for reading!
