A new student joins Room 31!

Book Buddies with Kindergarten!
It really feels like this week flew by for me, as I was at an inservice for Tuesday and Wednesday! We had a new student join us on Monday. A thank you to all the students for making Jameson feel welcome in our class and at BHS.

Here is Emily's TWAS from her Kidblog account:

!hi today I'm going to be sharing about TWAS again!
On Monday Jameson are new student in are class started at BHS and it was a big surprise because I came in a little late so it was funny. We also had book buddies Gabby joined are group because her book buddie wasn't there, so we read a book to them and after that we played a remembering game and Kenzie won I was so funny!
On Tuesday we had a substitute Ms. Calver she's really nice, she even gave us an option of KITKAT fruit roll ups or Smarties because we were being a good class. Well we had the substitute did the first bus evacuation of 2018 we had it well we were in music so it was a little bit of a surprise. but it was good they mostly talked about safety and stuff like that.
On Wednesday we had another substitute Ms. Henry she's really nice too. We also had hand writing  we learned j, z, x, and q they are really easy and cool we can almost write anything that we can spell so its really amazing that we already almost now all letters in handwriting.
Cinquain Poetry
On Thursday we learned a Cinquain poem so it has to be 5 lines long it has to have a title, then two describing words, three action words, four feeling words and one synonym word so I came up with one about volleyball and it was really fun. We also had gym and we played four way soccer and it was really fun.
on Friday we had a school wide beach day thanks to Emma because she spon the wheel and got theme day for the whole school so she choose beach day but it was a really windy day to have but it was ok. We also got surprised by Ms. Dodds she used to be a grade four teacher at our school until she had a baby so that's basically it so thanks for reading

Spring is finally here!

Well, we all think Spring (finally) arrived this week! The weather sure warmed up by Thursday! We even spent some time cleaning up the school yard, in honour of Earth Day coming up on April 22nd. We wrapped up our unit on forces and simple machines this week and will be soon moving onto learning about the systems of the human body. We are still working on our social studies projects, started a new strategy for multiplication and did a few writing prompts. On Wednesday, MTYP came to our school to present "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" to staff and students.

Here is Haylee's TWAS from her kidblog account:

On Monday we had weekend wind-up!!! I shared about my fun weekend!!! I love weekend wind-up!!! Another thing we did was BHS reads. I am reading five books at the same time!!! And I've started all of them!!! Ms. Wasney said that if she read that many books at the same time she would get them mixed up!!!
On Tuesday we got to go on the laptops because Ciera won it for us!!! We also started our earth day art at the same time!!! The things you need to make it are: Shaving cream, blue paint, green paint, paper, a squeegee, scissors, a pencil, a circle tracer, a sharpie, red paper, a cookie sheet, black paper and a glue stick. It was so fun and I would rate my art 3 out of 5!!! First you have to spray the shaving cream on the cookie sheet. Then you drizzle a LITTLE bit of the blue and green paint on to the shaving cream. Then take your piece of paper and tap it on the shaving cream. Then you drag it across the shaving cream. If you want more color then you can drag it again. Let it sit for five minutes then scrape the access shaving cream off with the squeegee!!! then you can let it dry for a few hours. Afterwards you can use your tracer and cut the piece of paper with the shaving cream and glue it on your black paper. Cut out a heart on your red paper then write a message on it! You're done!!!
On Wednesday we had the people from MTYP come and do a play for us! It was called The lion, the witch and the wardrobe!!! It was a great play!!! Another thing we did was social studies!!! I am researching Henry Hudson for my European explorer!!! I am working with Faith!!!
On Thursday we had a substitute!!! We had BHS reads!!! the same five books!!! Another thing we did was math. we worked on multiplication!!! It's pretty easy for me!!!
On Friday we have no school and I don't have any plans yet!!!

Watch the Decorah Eagles LIVE 24/7!

A big shoutout to my parents for reminding me that the live video feed is up for the Decorah Eagles. I love sharing the videos with my students every year! This year, 2 out of 3 eggs have already hatched, and the eaglets are only a few days old! It will be so fun to watch them grow up, and how caring their parents are.
