R Chart Celebration!

P.J. Day!!
This week on Friday November 23 we all had P.J. day!! We all got to have P.J. day because we filled our “R” chart. The “R” on the R chart stands for respect. We filled it up by getting compliments, walking to gym, music, or library or any place else. Also if we get a compliment for working quietly on the white board (more grey) outside our door we haven’t got white (grey) board compliment lately cause the marker is lost. And if we did an ok job at something we get a half circle. If Ms. Wasney thinks we are doing a good job in class we can get a circle or a half. P.J. day is really fun and we get a really easy day too! We got to go to the computer lab first. Then snack, and when we got to stay in for recess to watch the movie Madagascar 3!  We got to have lemonade and popcorn twists! Then lunch and recess. Twas gym and finish Twas if we aren’t otherwise it is finish up Friday or free time on the net books. I think P.J. day will be really fun for me at least, about three quarters of the people in our class wore P.J’s and the other bit just wore average clothes. At first I was kind of shaky thinking I might be the only one wearing my P.J’s but I wasn’t luckily! even Ms. Wasney was wearing her P.J’s! so far P.J. day is really fun and best of all it is a Friday filled with NO work! Only comfy cozy P.J’s and stuffies!

We also got a class picture. For a week we will have a webkinz bulldog because we got no blue slips.Ty won the naming for the girl bulldog. Her name is Bella the bulldog. The boy is Bower. So we got Bella for an afternoon one day.

Wonderful Weather Vanes!

The weather vane
This week Ms. Wasney surprised us with a science project. The science project was to create a weather vane with our table group. We got to use a wooden dowel, 1 meter of masking tape, plasticine, 4 straight pins, a ruler, 4 straws, manila tag paper, scissors, markers, and a pencil.  First we had to sketch a design of what we thought it should look like and then label it.  Then after we modeled it we would test it and see if it worked. How did we test it? Our teacher brought in her hairdryer.  After we tested if there was something wrong with the design we had to write down some improvements. After we did all of the adjustments, and tested them again to make sure they worked we sketched down the final design! After we were finish our final design we would do some reflecting about the project like what worked, what didn’t work, two things you thought you did well and something that you would do next time. Then we fill in our log book about our table group. We had to do 7 questions.  There was a place you had to start. Ms. Wasney wrote a “problem” which was: “you are working for a local sky diving company and are asked to design (and build) an instrument to determine wind directions. But there was a criteria which was:
àThe weather vane indicates four cardinal wind directions (N, E, S, W)
àMust be able to withstand two different wind speeds.
àMust be reliable during numerous tests.
àUses only the materials provided
àDesign should promote the skydiving company
àthe log book should be neat and have all quietens completed

Doves for Peace . . . Happy Remembrance Day!

This week, we read the book "What does PEACE feel like?" by Vladimir Radunsky and wrote about peace. We then created doves using a starburst colouring technique in warm or cool colours, with pencil crayons. Finally, we shared our thoughts about peace by printing out our feelings on our artwork. We all think the doves turned out really beautiful! Check them out in this video!

This week at school we had a Halloween parade and party we had a lot of snacks for are party on Wednesday and we decorated pumpkins. On Wednesday at the end of the day we had gym with 5t. The last game we played in gym with 5t was when you had to face the wall then when the gym teacher said go and the people that are it would hide behind a mat then we would run across the gym and then they would jump out from the mat and try to tag you and we were supposed to go to 5 rounds but we went to 6 rounds it was the funnest game ever in my life for Halloween games so far. In math we did patterning yesterday it was really easy because I was one of the first ones done. Yesterday we had book buddies and we did a 5 little pumpkins poem we had to cut and glue me and my book buddie rylee are almost done.
