Month in Review!

This month I enjoyed when we did our science projects. It was cool getting to create something out of only recyclable stuff and to see it work was awesome. I also enjoyed when we went into the star dome. I really liked the stories that were told and when it started moving it looked really cool. The best story was the one about the people who got lost in the woods. Something I wish we could do again is the star dome. I would also like to do some more mini projects like the European explorer project. It is also fun putting all the stuff we learned into a prezi or power point. I say this has been the busiest month of the year so far and the most fun month too. It would also be really cool if we could go inside the photobooth again because I loved making crazy faces and spending time with my book buddie.

Month in Review

We have been quite busy this week and have not had a chance to put our January Month in Review on the blog yet! Nicholas volunteered and worked really hard in the computer lab this morning!

Month in Review

This month we did AAA-storing telling and we also made our masks. It was so cool.  We had gym and in gym we did wrestling moves it was so fun but also hard a bit.  We made our own classroom expectations it was so fun.  We had NEW YEARS art-we made art crackers and we made New Years name art it was so fun.  We wrote out entries for a Winnipeg jets player to come visit our classroom. It is so exciting.  We did science we did forces and motion it was hard but a bit fun. In social studies we did European Explorer research. I’m researching Henry Hudson, it is so hard.  We had math and in math we did rounding and estimating it was so fun.  We had a snowmobile safety presentation in the gym with all the grade 4s, 5s, and 6s. It was so cool but we had to sit there for one whole hour, it was a long time.  We had a SPIN club we are doing the we are love campaign it was a bit fun. Next week we will be selling buttons as a fundraiser. We are doing expert projects an expert project is something you like or something you like to do and we already started are projects and we have to do a  presentation on the smart board it will be so fun. I’m doing mine on basketball because I know lots about basketball.

On Wednesday we got to make gingerbread cookies with our book buddies there was a lot of candy and icing to decorate the cookies and after everyone was done we all got to eat are cookie. They were so good and after we got to go and read a book and they made us bookmarks to use. We went on a field to the Abundant Life Church to sort hampers and wrap gifts for kids. It was such an awesome field trip and when we had to go we had popcorn and apple juice to eat some people got refills I got lots of popcorn it was good. When we did art we made these birch trees they look so awesome and Amanda brought some snowman to paint. We did science research on this new website called Prezi. It is such a fun website and I studied blizzards and we got to present them on the SMARTBOARD. We are making these Christmas cards for our family and we put our birch trees on the front.

Month in Review

This month I enjoyed sitting by my friends because they helped me with all my stuff I needed help with like art or anything else.   I liked the R chart celebration it was so cool it was so fun we got to watch a movie it was called Madagascar 3 it was so funny.  We got are report cards sent home everyone was so excited to see their report cards.  The patrols went to Wheelies it was so fun there was like 50 or 60 kids there, it was crazy.  Some grade 5&6s went to the volleyball tournament my team won about 6 games and lost like 2 games.

This month, I enjoyed doing art! We did thanksgiving leaves and autumn silhouettes and pumpkin decorating. I liked making the posters and raising money for UNICEF. We had a UNICEF assembly and we sang a UNICEF song. I liked Book Buddies because I like reading to my buddy. Sage is very cute! I liked when Ms. Wasney read us "Holes”, now, she’s reading a book called “Wonder”.

Month in Review!

Every month, I like to  have the students do a self-assessment about our school activities. The students have to write about things they enjoyed, things they wish we would do, things they were good at, things they need to work harder on, and a goal for the next month. This is a nice way for the students to take responsibility for their learning. After brainstorming, we realized that we have done LOTS during this first month of school!

This month, I enjoyed million dots, book nooks, Terry Fox Run, Terry Fox writing, first fire drill, 25^th anniversary, name art, choir, gym, music, and library. I like the name art because it was fun.

I wish we would go to the computer lab soon.

 We went to the children’s museum for a field trip!! I went in the train and there was a secret tunnel and there were little mice reading a book!! We built structures in a group. My group built a rocket ship it was really fun!!! We had lots of furry friends. Today Alyssa brought in Max her big dog!! We had activity day!!! My favourite station was the sponge relay!! We had popsicles at the end of the day. I got a pink on and it fell on the ground.(but then I ate it!!) we did the novel study presentations. My group did a talk show and I was the host that asked questions to all the characters!! It was really fun!! We did a science design project. The grade 3s did a bridge and the grade 4s did a diorama and a poster. I made a bridge with Alyssa. It was really fun!! In math we did fractions and started geometry. Geometry is easy so far!!! We worked on our ancient Egypt research. I am on my PowerPoint they are really easy!! We did a graffiti wall. Its something you write your favourite memory of room 5! It was really fun!! Its really sad ending a Awesome school year!!

Wow! I can't believe it's the last day of May! Just WHERE did the school year go?! Ryan volunteered to share all the things we did this month!

Month in review

This month we had many art jobs like the line movement, the umbrellas, and we also made flower pots for mother’s day. This month we started division and I’m finally happy I understand it much better. This month we also had a multiplication test which I missed the day we had it but I did it the next day and man was it easy I finished it in like 5 to 10 minutes. Closer to the middle of the month a grade 3 student named Araya came back to BHS because she was in the grade 2 class before with the grade 3’s and then she moved away then came back! This month as well some grade 4’s started peace making and yeah! In gym we started this get fit run club and I can’t explain that much about it though. I think this week maybe Tuesday in music Alyssa sang a solo an Adele song I don’t remember what it was called though. May 3^rd we had are Travel fair but I missed it so I can’t say much about it so yeah. May 21^st I think last week the grade 3’s went to the folkdance festival and the grade 4’s what they did is they got divided in to 3 classes Ms. Davis’s, Ms. Tressor’s, and Ms. Dodd’s class. Me Robbie, Colin, And Josh went to Ms. Dodd’s class when we did all are work we just got to go to the library we were basically there like 5 hours reading and me and Colin got to scan books as well! When all the kids that went to the folkdance festival got back we got to watch a movie even the grade 4’s that did not go got to watch the movie was called Napoleon and during it we got popsicle’s they were good to!  In science we started structures for the grade 3’s and habitats for the grade 4’s. Tuesday I think it was Railay came for a visit and she was so cute and funny. This month the school also holded a parent volunteer tea and we also sang to them!!

This month we did lots of things, we started poetry, we started multiplication in math, we made earth day art, we had the Gr 5-6 spring concert, we did our travel fair research and backboards, we had our 50^th blog post, we had bus evacuation and we also had two special visitors, Smokey (Renee’s pet bunny) and Bella (Ryan’s pet dog). I enjoyed this month but I missed a week because I went to Phoenix in Arizona! But I’ll put that in weekend wind up.

Month in Review

March 23, 2012

This month was pretty busy. We did a lot of Art: Leprechaun faces, which are when we got a template of a circle, trace it, we cut a line into the middle, and glued it together for a nose. Then we got coloured paper and decorated it. We could put eyes, a hat, mouth, a small beard, eyebrows, and hair. Some people used glasses. We also did something called the shamrock art, which is when we colour in some paper shamrocks with all of our shades of greens, cut it out, and glued it on to a black piece of construction paper. We also did the longest line art, (my favourite!) which is when we take our sharpies, and draw a long line with crazy movements without taking it off the paper. Then we trace different shapes on to it. Then we colour in only the shapes. We also did an art where we did funky birds for spring. We coloured it with watercolour paint. In Math, we started a new booklet about money. We are going to start multiplication after spring break. We worked on our portfolios because we had a parent teacher conference. My parents were proud of my report card. We had hot lunch yesterday! It was hot dogs and hamburgers. We organized our classroom library. It looks much neater now. In social studies we are doing another research project! The grade 4s are doing a region in Manitoba. I am doing the Northern region. The grade 3s are doing a country around the world. We also had Village groups! We started at our village group leaders room, then we rotated to different classrooms. My group leader is Ms. Dent Scarcello but she is away so it was Ms. Dodds.  Her classroom activity is musical hoola hoops. Next we switched to Mr. Oliphant’s class. His was dancing. The songs that we danced to are Macarena, and Chicken Dance. We looked at another song called “The Duck Song” Next we went to Mrs. Dowhan’s class. It was cup stacking. Next was Ms. Wasney’s. It was in the hallway. We had some scooters and a rope, and we tried to make it to the other mat as a team. The goal was to get the whole team to the other mat. It was a lot of fun. It was my favourite one! Next we went to Mr. Kusics class. It was where we roll a tennis ball and it jumps up when it hits a hockey stick, and if I lands one of the cups, you get a point. That’s when we had to stop. One day the grade 4s went to Robert Andrews! We played AAA activities and made crafts. It was pretty fun. We also presented our play of Nanabosho and the Porcupine. We also saw other ones. My favourite was Ms. Dyck’s class. We also went to a music festival at West Minister United Church. The songs we sang are “Walking in the Air” and “Hine ma Tov”. We started playing Hand Ball in Gym. This month we started Cursive Writing! I enjoyed doing the Village Group activity, Hand ball and of course, all of the Art.

Month in Review

Wow! February seemed to FLY by! We were quite excited about filling up our "R Chart" this week. We are working at being respectful in and out of the classroom. So, we try to fill in circles on a chart that we have on our wall. We can always get "bonus" circles for receiving a compliment! We decided to celebrate by wearing pjs, watching a movie WHILE having free time with the netbooks. Wow! Aren't we great at multi-tasking?! We always do a self-assessment at the end of every month, as well as set a goal for the next month. These will be shared with parents at Student-Led Conferences in a few weeks. Thanks to Renee for volunteering to share her write-up on the blog!

Month in review

This month we had pyjama day because we filled up our R chart. I wore my pyjamas. This month we also had a field trip. We went to the science gallery. It was really fun. There were lots of things to do there. I liked the pulley chairs and the shadow pictures. Elder Jules came to our school this month. He told us a story about wolves. We also had a math test and a science test. We started our novel study final projects. I am doing a scene re-enactment with Haley and Emmy. The book we read was called owls in the family. It was a good book. We did mapping in S.S. we made a map of our class room, a map of our school yard and a map of how we get to school.

Month in review January,2012

This month I enjoyed… The heart job with the pastels and water color paints and it was really fun you got to draw hearts with pastels and really nice colors that you got to use to paint your heart job and the colors were water color paints and when the paint was still wet you had to put salt on it and when it was dry ms.wasney would wipe off the salt and it would leave a cool design. And another art job we did was the attribute shield and it was fun to do you got to draw a circle and then cut it out but befor that you had to fill a booklet and then you got to cut it out and then paint it and then draw a animal that belongs to you and matches you and then you pasted it on. And I also enjoyed gymnastics club and it actually really fun because you learn more moves for gymnastics and then you get better if you already new some moves you learn more moves.

In science grade threes are learning about magnets and what they have to do is try and make other stuff in to megnets and they had to do experiment if stuff actually stick to the megnets. And grade fours have to learn about sound we get to use tuning forks hit it on your shoe and then you have to put it up to something and see what happens and then you have to draw and write something down like what did you see and what did you here and grade threes have an experiment and they have to do something involving megnets or gravity and grade fours have to do a musical instruments that change pitch from high to low and there are some ideas like drums thimbulls gautars marocaus and blocks.

It really looks like we haven't done too much! Well . . . December IS a short month!
