Last week of 2016!

We've had an awesome last week of school for 2016! On Monday, it was my fave assembly of the year. I love when the school gets together to sing Christmas carols! We had some very brave students play the piano for it!

We were really busy with Secret Santa . . . it was sooooooo much fun in Room 31! The students totally got into the spirit of giving with really thoughtful gifts and clues! We also worked on beautiful cards for our families and painted wood ornaments!

We baked cookies with our Grade 2 Book Buddies on Tuesday, and then decorated and ate them on Wednesday. Thanks to Mrs. Lepp and Mrs. Sullivan for helping out!

Today, we had a "Photo Booth" in our room . . . not a real one, but still loads of fun! Thanks to my sister and her adorable props (4squarefoto)!

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy the holidays! I'm looking forward to hearing all about your adventures!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We've had an awesome week so far . . . and we're heading on a field trip tomorrow to finish off the week just right! We created some super neat Heart Art, worked on envelopes for our valentines, chilled out in a photobooth, played a game with our book buddies, and partied with friends! Oh, and we managed to fit in some school work too! You can see our Heart Art on Artsonia by clicking HERE.

Fun in the Photobooth for I LOVE to read month!

Maddy and Carly look VERY
happy with their unique
bookmarks!
Today Ms. Wasney`s sister Leah brought in her photobooth to share with us. We got to go in the photobooth to make a bookmark.  The photobooth takes 4 pictures. Our class got to go into the booth twice! We went in with our book buddies and Ms. Tresoor’s class. With our book buddies we pointed to our eyes, then we made a heart with our hands, then we put up 2 fingers, then we held up a book so it looked like were reading. We did it because February is I Love to Read Month. We can’t believe we had an opportunity to do something like this! It was fantastic!

Gingerbread Men!

Madison and Carly decorating
Gingerbread Men!
On Dec. 19 (Wednesday) we went to our book buddies. We made gingerbread men. When we got there we had to find our book buddies at a table. When we found them we sat down next to them. Then we had to wait for instructions. We got to have our own gingerbread men to decorate. After that we started to decorate our gingerbread men.  There was candy and icing. You had to dip your candy into the icing, and then you stuck it on the gingerbread men! You got to decorate the gingerbread men ANY way you want to.
We had to wait for EVERYONE to finish decorating their gingerbread men, then you can eat it.  We decorated the gingerbread men then we read a poem called Gingerbread Children to our book buddies. After reading your book buddies the poem we just read winter books to them. The gingerbread men were very good!

Hoo, Hoo! A fun owl activity with our Book Buddies!

Kyla and her Book Buddy, Samantha!
Today Thursday October 25th 2012 we had book buddies . I really like book buddies they are younger cuter and really nice. my book buddy is Samantha she is really nice she is also really good at reading.  We did an owl craft and an owl poem that was cute and was really fun. She cut out the owl body the wings beak eyes and the feet. I trimmed the little parts that she missed and the toes that were supposed to be on the feet but otherwise she did awesome on her own! She glued the eyes on, then the beak, wings, and feet. She chose to do the wings up ward instead of down. We both agreed it looked cutest that way. Then she did the dots on the eyes. She did them small dots at first looked at them and then made them bigger.  She flipped then put her name on the back she has really neat and good printing too! We finished off book buddy time with reading books to each other. We read “bingo comes to school” and “fun jobs” I really like book buddies they are fun cause they can teach you as much or even more of what you teach them.

Book Buddies!

Today, we started a very special tradition - Book Buddies with Mrs. Turner's Grade One students! We are hoping to meet once a week to read and work on special activities. This was super neat because many of the Grade Five students remember being in Grade One and having an older buddy!

Leave a comment and share with us what your favourite part of meeting your Book Buddy for the first time today was!

Book Buddies

Today we had   book buddies and I thought it was cool! It was fun to hang out with different people and make new friends! They were good at reading even though they had very soft voices. They were so cute and so nice!

They are in grade 1 and in Mrs. Turner’s class. I went out in the hall with my buddy Morgan, but some stayed inside the room. I knew Morgan from the Y program, so we got along really well.
It was a good experience to have book buddies. And it was so fun! I bet it will be the same much fun the next time to!
