Take a pic = give shoes

Today, as part of our 30x30 Nature Challenge, we headed out and took a picture of our bare feet! The shoe company, Toms, is known for giving a pair of shoes to someone in need with every purchase.

They have a promotion (until May 21) on Instagram that if you post a picture with #withoutshoes, they will donate a pair to a child in need. You can read more about it HERE.

It was fun to feel nature beneath our feet!  :)

TWAS in pictures!

This week, TWAS will be shared in pictures from our Instagram account!

We've had a busy week . . . funky new attendance and name tags for June, clay art with Mrs. Kulyk on Tuesday, a field trip to the Science Gallery on Wednesday, 2 fire drills and book buddies on Thursday, and a new Instagram challenge! Oh, we also worked on poetry, division, science, and even some social studies! Ha!

Mrs. Tresoor and I created an Instagram challenge: #goodbyebirdshillschool. The idea is that each student in Grade 5 has the opportunity to take a picture and write a caption for something that they will miss now that they are leaving BHS. Our class accounts are private, and we like to challenge the students by coming up with unique photos . . . we don't take pictures of faces! I think this will be a fun way to end the year . . . full of memories!

 

Instagram Challenge

We have been really consistent with students each having a day to post on our Instagram account. Something that is starting up for May is called eduphotaday, which was introduced to classrooms last year. You can learn more about it by clicking HERE. The idea is that classrooms participate in a challenge to post a picture for the word/theme of the day. Last year, we used the photos from other classrooms as inspiration for writing.

Today, students in Room 31 had the opportunity to sign up for a word/theme that they'd like to showcase on our class Instagram account.

There is also an Instagram challenge based on Math. We decided that we will participate whenever we are inspired by a word/theme.

Instagram Challenge!

Thanks to Mrs. Dent Scarcello and Mrs. Tresoor, we are now signed up for an Instagram challenge! This was created by two teachers in the RETSD school division. For each day during the month of May, there is a word or phrase for a photo challenge. Participating classrooms need to take an Instagram photo that represents the word or phrase and hashtag it #eduphotoadaymay. The next day, we will look at all the Instagrams shared in the photo challenge for our writing inspiration! You can follow us on Instagram at: @mswasneysclass. Our account is private, so you will need to send us a request, and then wait for approval.
